Penguins don't do trees. They live in some of the most treeless places on earth — ice, rock, open ocean. So there's something quietly unexpected about a penguin made from wood. Cold meets warmth. Ocean meets forest. Movement meets rootedness.

And yet it works. Because what penguins and wood have in common is this: both have been shaped by their environment into something remarkably resilient.

There's history here too. The first sailors to encounter penguins did so from the decks of wooden ships — watching these upright, unhurried creatures on the ice with a mixture of wonder and bewilderment. We know the feeling.

Our hand-turned Wooden Penguin is shaped on the lathe by the team at Turning Corners. It stands beautifully on a shelf, windowsill or desk, and makes a genuinely lovely gift for anyone who appreciates something made by hand.
